F.A.Q.

How did this website come into existence?

You can learn more about the story behind AthletesWork on the Prepare page. The first blog posting provides a little more background on AW and my passion of assisting athletes in resume and job readiness. You can also go to the About Us page to learn more about my background in athletics and beyond.

How do I contact AthletesWork?

Whether you are a member, employer or site visitor you can visit our “Contact” Page to submit your questions using our online submission form. If you prefer to speak to me by phone, you will find the phone number published on the privacy page.

How often do you update your Blog?

I write a new blog posting every week and will usually post it late Sunday night (I’m a night owl – sometimes) or first thing Monday morning (for those Sunday’s when I’m not a night owl)

What topics will be covered on your Blog?

On the Prepare page I will write about various topics ranging from resume writing, job readiness, career exploration, interviewing skills to dinner etiquette.

If I want to contribute to a Blog posting can I?

Of course you can. There is no “I” in Team. Once a month I feature a subject matter expert and or a former student-athlete who is “doing his or her thing” in the corporate world who would like to share their formula/best practices for making it to the top and transferable skills that they carried into the workplace. So, if you would like to contribute please send me an email or call me directly I would love to hear from you!

When will positions be posted on the website?

Over the last several months, I’ve received an overwhelming response from companies around the country who are interested in reaching a group of individuals who have qualities and transferrable skills – such as yourself that can carry over into the workplace such as time management, teambuilding, communication skills and winning attitude just to name a few. I’m working very hard to educate employers about the mission of AthletesWork and the win-win outcome of connecting with a fantastic group of individuals! I will begin posting jobs as soon as they come in so STAY TUNED!

How many jobs will be posted at any given time?

Once logged in, you will find open positions posted on the Connect page of the website. An increasing number of companies are reaching out to me everyday with positions that they would like to post to the site. As employers fill positions they are removed from the site.

How current are job postings?

I know what it’s like to apply to positions only to find out that they are old or have already been filled – It’s pretty annoying and a waste of time. So, when you log-in you can expect to find up to date postings that you can take advantage of. All jobs are individually reviewed by me to ensure quality, accuracy and prompt posting.

What types of positions will you anticipate posting?

You will find a wide range from job shadowing and internships to full time positions posted by employers. You will be able to take a look for yourself by going to the Connect page of the site.

Do you post internships or full-time positions?

Yes, whether you are a student looking for an internship or job shadowing experience, searching for your first full time job or a former athlete who has several years of experience and is looking to transition in a new career path all together, you will find the positions that meet your interest, educational background and skill-set.

What does a typical job posting look like?

The best way to explain what a job posting looks like is to have you take a look at several sample job postings on our Explore page. Once positions have been posted, feel free to browse these jobs and apply directly to our employers for positions that match your interests, educational background and skill-set.

How can I contact employers about your job openings?

Click on the "Apply Now" button next to the job opening you would like to apply to, and your contact information and a link to your resume will be emailed to the employer and myself.

How do I post my resume on your site?

If you already have a username and password you can go to your profile and upload your word document. If you don’t have a login you can go to the Connect page and sign up, fill out your profile and upload your resume from that page.

What if I don’t have a resume, need help writing one or need to revamp it?
